What qualifications do you seek in a franchisee?

We seek positive, customer focused people who are highly motivated with a desire and commitment to build a successful business while having fun.

 

Do I need hair care experience?

Not at all. We actually prefer previous management or business experience to hair care experience. Your stylist will handle the hair while you focus on building your business.

What’s different at Kidz Lidz Salons?

Children have a choice of pedal cars to sit in as they watch their favourite cartoons and tv show while they are attended to for their haircut. We also are a fully integrated family salon providing an array of services for the whole family.

 

Can I open multiple salons?

Yes, if you qualify, we encourage our franchisees to own more than one salon.

 

Do I need to work in the salon(s)?

For single salon owners we do not require you to work full-time in the salon, however, we highly encourage it. Any business you own will be more successful with your involvement in the day-to-day operations.


What is the expected outlay for wages initially and how many staff will be efficient?

Answer: Generally staff required will be a minimum of three people on any given day. A roster will be prepared and staff will be acquired and trained as the business gathers momentum. Our hours are Mon-Sat 9-6pm.

 

What is the estimated profit for the first 12 months and thereafter?

Answer: We cannot predict how much you will make as we don’t know how hard you will work, how closely you will follow the systems, etc. Our franchise disclosure document has a section that may help you predict what your revenues and expenses might be if you opened your own Kidz Lidz Salon.

 

Do you have uniforms?

Answer: Yes, Kidz Lidz staff all wear uniforms that carry the Kidz Lidz Logo. There have been variations on our uniforms over the years as we like to keep freshening our look for our customers. The latest ones look fantastic and professional.


What is the availability of sites and territory in my area of interest?

Since we cannot predict which locations will be available when the recruitment process is completed, flexibility regarding location may be required.

 

Do I follow the same operation manual or can I deviate from it?

The operation manual is a guide, though much of its content has been written from actual situations that have led to Kidz Lidz becoming so successful. In other words, the manual has become a record of the correct way to flourish, and in doing so avoiding the mistakes or pitfalls that can easily happen if you deviate from a formula that actually works.

 

Do I have to work full time in my store?

The answer is no! You can if you want to – that is an owner/manager model. The other is the absentee owner model where you hire a manager to run your stores and you keep your day job. We have gone to great lengths to develop systems that help you accomplish this.


What about the ongoing support and training?

We train our operators using our confidential operations guide that was developed over many years using input from many years of trial and error and employees. Your entire staff must be trained before opening to insure quality in operations and customer service.

 

From the first day you sign your franchise agreement, we begin training you. You will be trained here in Sydney, which will include operating a location, fine tuning and learning the skills taught in a fully working Kidz Lidz Salon.

 

This training is required for owners and managers, and may include other employees if they are available. We offer on-site training after opening that may need to include stylist and management.

 

Included with the training are operations manuals that can be used at your salon for continuing and updated training that may be required in the future.

 

Our support staff is available to answer questions regarding the operations of your salon and to assist with any needs that arise. From software support to operations support, our many years of experience provide an unparalleled return on your investment of time.

 

You will get plenty of ongoing support. Lots of marketing and ongoing store systems have been put into place are are done for you. We have tried to take everything that hinders a small business owner from being able to do the things that bring business to your store off of your plate. In turn your store will have the potential to be much more successful.

Each Kidz Lidz Salon uses the “Shortcuts” Point-Of-Sale Software system. This software collects all customer data, including name, address, email, and children's birthdays. It also keeps track of all daily business, including cash management, time clocks, customer waiting lists, cash register functions, and retail sales.

 

It is here that you will enter new products and services, employees, and other important information. You can access valuable reports such as Sales Summary Reports, Payroll Reports, Customer Loyalty Reports, and many others.

What do I get for my investment?

  • A fully functioning Kidz Lidz Hair Salon. You will be working alongside us while the salon is fitted out. Anywhere we can save money on your fit-out, we will. Our goal is to get you up and running for the least amount of outlay possible. The above is an estimate based on the maximum outlay. Situations vary from site to site.
  • Site Location assistance & negotiation of lease.
  • Draftsman professionally prepared floor plan.
  • Painting/Plumbing/Electrical/Carpentry – Complete Salon Fit Out.
  • All Signage in including Kidz Lidz double sided under awning lightbox/surround awning signage emblazoned with Kidz Lidz logos/phone numbers etc.
  • Shortcuts License fee and computer, printer, bar code scanner, cash register, broadband set up, telephone set up, full training of all software.
  • Salon equipment i.e. mirrors/chairs/basins/side tables/trolleys/4 x pedal cars on hydraulic pedestals/television monitors/washing machine/dryer/towels.
  • Stock for salon i.e. retail & all salon tools required to trade.
  • Complete and ongoing training in all aspects of running a successful Kidz Lidz Salon.
